Happy Happy Joy Joy!

Its fixed! Our internet, cable, and phone are finally FIXED!!!! Holy cow, I can't believe it finally happened. I was beginning to think it never would. What a crazy 19 days this has been. Allot has happened, and I'm not sure where to start. So I guess I'll start with the cutest thing...

1. Ruby went to her very first baseball game!!! The Tennessee Smokies hosts a Dog Days of Summer every year, and Ruby had a ball (haha). Really though, she was so well behaved, and it made the game allot more fun for me too. She makes a great pillow :)

2. My office had a Wear Your Craziest Hat Contest (seriously):

For everyone who watches The Office and thinks its an exaggerated portrayal of office life, I'm here to tell you that its not. Offices are weird, weird places.

3. For Father's Day, Seth and I headed east to hang out with his dad and 2 grandpas. Grandpa G. met Ruby for the first time and loved her (of course):

And Grandpa M. made us all laugh, as always:

4. My parents finally got a puppy! Her name is Charity and she's super cute and little.

5. I went to Nashville for Flugtag, and it was a blast! Its a Red Bull event where teams build their own flying machines ("Red Bull gives you wings" ... get it?) and fly them off a platform into the river. If you look closely in this picture (click on it to enlarge), you can see the Batman Building, Rubik's Revenge, and Soaring Gonzalez (the big yellow sombrero):

The star of the show was the Rocky Top Rocket - they set a new North American record by flying 155 feet! Check out the video on their website, its awesome and it'll give you a better idea of what Flugtag is. After Flugtag, we did something I've never done before in Nashville - went Honky Tonkin'!

To be honest, I'm not a fan of country music and the idea of honky tonkin' really didn't appeal to me. But trust me, its a blast. Next time you're in Nashville, head on over to Robert's Western World, Wildhorse Saloon, and Paradise Park Trailer Resort. You won't be sorry :)
Sorry to go back to this again, but I just can't express how relieved I am that Richard (aka The Best Comcast Tech Ever) came over today and fixed everything. And I hope to never mention the C word on this blog ever again.
Happy Thursday, everyone!

In case you're wondering, no, we still don't have service at the house yet. Today is our 19th day without internet, cable, or a phone. That's right. 19 DAYS. Its so ridiculous at this point, I don't really have any words. Except that I'm sorry that this has officially turned into the most boring blog ever and I promise to have a Big Blogging Bonanza and post tons of pictures and updates as soon as everything gets fixed.

Apparently, I'm not the only one who hates Comcast.

I put "hate Comcast" in the Flickr search field and got lots of results. This one is my favorite and describes how I feel too, except I'd add "I miss you phone" and "I miss you TV" to my post-it. And of course, the 10 days (and counting) that I haven't had internet access at home have been filled with all sorts of things I want to blog about, and I've taken a million pictures I want to share. But alas, I can't.

The Comcast dude is supposed to come over on Wednesday to fix everything, but honestly I'm not holding my breath. The first time he came everything only worked for half a day, and the second time he was scheduled to come, he never showed up (and a mini-mental breakdown on my part ensued). So we'll see, and in the meantime I'm just trying to stay calm. Once all this drama is over, I'll have a big mega-post with tons of pictures and news and what-have-you. Keep your fingers crossed that that'll be tomorrow!

Frustration abounds

We haven't had an internet connection at home since Saturday, so the P.O.T.D. project is on hiatus. I've been taking pictures, but I just don't have any way of getting them from my computer to Blog Land. So in the meantime, I'm going to post a list of my Top 41 Favorite Movies Of All Time (I'm counting sequels and trilogies as one on the list). What are your favorites? If you're reading this and you have a blog, I'm officially tagging you to make a Top Favorite Movie List also. If you don't have a blog, then its time you start one (and then make the list). Its free and its fun and there's no reason not to do it. So do it!!

Day at the pool

I love being at the pool...getting some sun, playing in the water, reading trashy magazines, people watching. Can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday in the summer.

Here's today's P.O.T.D.:
Ruby using the coat rack as a pillow (and I promise the P.O.T.D. won't always be of Ruby - I just couldn't resist this one. Too cute!).

ood bye & ood luck

After more than a month of careful consideration, I finally bit the bullet and invested in some new Birkenstocks. And I couldn't be happier! They'll last forever, they fit great, but most importantly, they match my beautiful blue dog. She's just as thrilled as I am, can't you tell? Sweet Ruby. You know she's 10 1/2 now, and with every year I get scared that it will be her last. Well, last night I found out that a friend of a friend has a blue heeler that is 17 years old and still going strong! As soon as I heard that I instantly felt better. As far as I'm concerned, this means I could conceivably have 10 more years with Rube! So glad.

Alright what else is new. Not too much really. I know I'm not blogging very much these days, so I decided to try something new. I'm going to try to start posting a Picture of the Day (P.O.T.D.) every day. If there's one creative outlet that I'm most excited about these days, its photography, hands down. Plus, I feel like it'll force me to look at the daily things in my life in a new way...see the beauty or the oddity in the things I normally don't think twice about. This will a) give me something to post about more often, and b) hopefully inspire me to be creative even when I'm in Cube Land.

And speaking of, I recently got this wonderful zine called The Artist in the Office -- a woman named Summer Pierre in Brooklyn, NY wrote it and mailed it to interested people like myself for free*! This little zine inspired me so much, and I'm sure it had something to do with my new P.O.T.D. project. I definitely recommend ordering it right away.
*Because so many people wanted a copy (and rightly so), she's charging for it now, but take my word for it - its worth the $10 she's asking.

So, without further ado, here's my first official P.O.T.D.:

Hope everyone has a great Friday night!! Check back tomorrow for another exciting P.O.T.D. :)
